On the new wallet engine you can send some stablecoins without holding the network's own coin (ETH, BNB, POL and so on). The network fee is taken from the token you're sending, so you don't need gas and don't need to top up Gas Station. The first time, you'll need to turn this on for each network (see below).
Where it works
Network | Fee paid in the token you send |
Ethereum | USDC, USDT |
Polygon | USDC, USDT |
BNB Smart Chain (BSC) | USDC, USDT |
Arbitrum | USDC |
Base | USDC |
Optimism | USDT |
Solana | USDC, USDT |
Where you still need gas
For everything else, the fee is paid in the network's own coin, as before. That includes:
USDT on Arbitrum
USDC on Optimism
USDC and USDT on Avalanche
the network coins themselves (ETH, BNB, SOL, TRX and others)
all other tokens
TRON, TON and Bitcoin networks
In these cases, if you don't have enough of the network's coin, the app will offer to get gas from Gas Station. See How to Use the Simple Gas Station to Pay for Transaction Fees.
How it looks in the app
When you send a token from the table with Gasless on, the fee is shown in that same token before you confirm, and it's deducted from the token you send. Make sure your balance covers the amount plus the fee.
FAQ
Do I need to do anything to turn this on?
Yes, once per network. The first time you send a token from the table on a network, turn on the Gasless switch on the send screen. The app will offer a one-time wallet upgrade for that network. It has a small fee, shown before you confirm and paid in the token you send. After that, transfers on that network don't need gas. The upgrade appears in your history as a separate transaction.
This is available once your wallet is on the new engine. If you haven't moved yet, see Moving your wallet to the new engine.
I'm sending USDC on Polygon. Does it matter which USDC?
Yes. This works for native USDC on Polygon. Bridged USDC.e is a different token.
My transfer of a token from the table fails with "not enough funds for the fee". What should I do?
Check that your balance covers both the amount and the fee. If it does and the transfer still fails, contact support in the in-app chat and send a screenshot of the error.
Does this apply to card top-ups and swaps?
This article covers sending tokens from your Self-Custody wallet. Card top-ups and swaps have their own fees, which the app shows before you confirm.
