Because your Simple wallet is self-custodial, you can take your private keys with you and use them in another wallet app. This guide explains what you get, what it costs you in security, and how to do it.
Read this first: exporting a private key is not a backup. It does not help you restore your Simple wallet — for that you need your recovery code. Exporting means revealing a key so you can use it elsewhere, and that is irreversible.
What you are exporting
Your wallet does not have one private key. It has a small set of keys, and each one controls several networks:
Key | Controls |
EVM key | All EVM networks (Ethereum, Base, Polygon, BNB and others), plus TRON, XRP and Litecoin |
Solana key | Solana and Stellar |
Bitcoin key | Bitcoin |
TON key | TON |
This matters: exporting your EVM key also gives away access to your TRON, XRP and Litecoin assets. Before you confirm, the app shows you every address that the key controls, so you can see exactly what is at stake.
How to export a key
Go to Settings → Security → Export private keys.
Read the warning screen and tap Continue.
Confirm your identity. You will be asked for your PIN, and depending on your security settings, for a code from your email and a quick face check.
Choose a key. You will see your accounts and the keys in each one, with the networks each key controls.
Review the addresses. Tick the acknowledgement and hold the button for three seconds. This is deliberate friction — it is the last point where you can stop.
Your key is displayed. Copy it directly into the wallet app you want to use.
Before you export, understand this
Anyone with your private key can take everything in those addresses, immediately, and it cannot be undone. Not by you, and not by Simple.
Simple cannot revoke a key that has been revealed. Once it is out, the only safe move is to stop using those addresses.
Simple support will never ask you to export a key or show one to us. If someone claiming to be Simple support asks you to do this, it is a scam.
Do not take a screenshot of your key. A screenshot goes into your photo library and from there into your cloud backup, where other apps and people may reach it. This is the most common way people lose their funds.
Keeping your assets in Simple and completing your security setup is the safer option for most people. Export only if you have a specific reason to move a key into another wallet.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as my recovery code? No. Your recovery code unlocks your wallet inside Simple. A private key is the key to the assets themselves and works in other wallet apps. They are not interchangeable.
Can I import the key back into Simple later? No. Exporting is one-way. Your Simple wallet keeps working as before — exporting does not close or empty it.
Can Simple show me the key again? Simple does not store your keys and cannot display or resend one. You can run the export again from the app.
I exported a key by accident. What should I do? If the key was only shown on your own screen and you did not copy or photograph it, your risk is low. If it may have been seen, copied or backed up anywhere, move your assets to a new wallet and contact support.
