Getting Started with Your Self-Custodial Wallet

Updated this week

Welcome to Simple Self-custody. This guide will walk you through the initial setup process to help you create and access your personal self-custodial wallet. The entire process takes just a few minutes and ensures that only you have access to your assets.

Step 1: Verify Your Email

After installing the application, launch it and enter your email address. A one-time verification code will be sent to your inbox.

Enter this code in the app to confirm your identity and proceed. This step helps secure your account and ensure proper communication.

Step 2: Set a Secure PIN

Once your email is verified, you'll be prompted to create a 4-digit PIN.
This PIN will be required each time you open the app, adding an extra layer of security to protect your wallet and personal data.

Step 3: Create Your Wallet

Now it’s time to create your wallet.
You’ll be asked to:

  • Choose a name for your wallet — something meaningful or easy to recognize.

  • Select an icon — this helps visually differentiate your wallet if you manage more than one in the future.

This personalization step makes your wallet uniquely yours.

Step 4: Wallet and Backup Generation

After naming your wallet and choosing an icon, the app will begin the process of creating your wallet and generating a secure backup.
This step is automatic and only takes a few seconds. Once completed, tap the Continue button to proceed.

⚠️ Important: This backup ensures that you can restore access to your wallet in case you lose your device. Make sure to follow the in-app instructions for safely managing your recovery data.

Step 5: Open Your Wallet

You're almost there!
Tap Open wallet to finish the setup and access your new self-custodial wallet. From here, you can start managing your digital assets with full control and confidence.

Creating Additional Wallets

Need more than one wallet? You can easily create additional wallets right from the app.

Simply:

  1. Tap the wallet name at the top-left corner of the main screen.

  2. In the dropdown menu, select Add new wallet.

  3. Follow the same steps as before: choose a name, select an icon, and wait for the wallet and backup to be created.

This feature is useful if you want to organize your funds, separate assets by purpose, or manage wallets for different projects.
